Intro the challenges of the recruiters vs candidates
The success of the business depends a lot on the employees. For this reason, recruitment is a phase that needs special attention and investment. Along with the development of society, businesses are facing more difficulties to be able to recruit the right people for the right jobs. With millions of applicants in the market, the competition among candidates is getting stronger day by day. The challenges and difficulties in recruiting human resources in practice stem from the increasing demand for workers, but the scarcity of people with good recruitment skills. Here are the top recruiting challenges that HR professionals and candidates will face:
The difficulties in recruiting of employers
1. High Costs
Talent shortage is the top recruitment challenge today. You will have no choice but to participate in “the war” for talent and compete with other companies, by spending high costs to use job websites, headhunt services to find qualified candidates. A recent survey by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) found that the average cost per hire is just over $4,000.
2. Unable to attract the right candidate
According to a Glassdoor report, 76% of hiring managers admit that attracting the right candidates is their biggest hiring challenge. The recruiters have to go through tons of applications, from the wrong to right candidates, wastes a lot of precious time screening.
3. Unable to recruiting the right people
According to Career Builder statistics, 74% of employers admit they have hired the wrong person at least once. This result is not surprising. Research by Criteria Pre-Employment Testing shows that up to 78% of resumes contain false information and 46% tell the truth. Hiring the wrong people causes huge losses to revenue, reduces productivity, as well as adversely affects employee morale and customer relations.
4. Lacking of a list of potential candidates
A talent pool is a database of candidates interested in your company. The advantage of this list is that it both enhances the quality of recruitment and saves time and costs for businesses. A lot of recruiting platforms in the market don’t offer this feature, and it creates some burdens for the recruiters.
The difficulties in job search of candidates
1. Lacking of verified data from candidate to employers
The content on your CV and cover letter is not enough to immediately prove to the employer that you are the right candidate they need. Nowadays, it is easier to find a job when someone introduces you to an employer, or when you have high recommendation from trustworthy reference, or at least your data is verified.
2. Dependent to job ads
Although recruitment websites and job ads are a useful source of opportunities, they do make you passive in creating bridges with employers. For some ads, it is outdated or just doesn’t reflect the reality of the job posts.
3. Dependent to Headhunter and Recruite
While headhunter services and recruiters are a great way to find new job opportunities, you are passively relying on their support. At the end of the day, their number one priority is their customers (who are paying them), so they’ll make sure they find a match for their customers and not necessarily for you.
4. Difficulty following up with the hiring manager
Even though you think your work is done after submitting your CV and cover letter, it’s actually just begun. You may have sent your CV to a lot of recruiters and it ends up in a situation where you don’t remember which employer has your CV, so you can’t contact them to check the status of your application. This can lead to you not being serious and interested in this position.
